Dr. Nixon joined HMHA in 2021, providing care via telehealth and in office. She is dual board certified as a Psychiatric and Adult Nurse Practitioner with over 18 years of combined experience in medical and mental health. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2013 and Master’s degree in Nursing/ Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2009 from George Mason University and Master’s degree in Nursing/ Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in 2021. Prior to coming to HMHA, she has worked with the Virginia department of Corrections and Community clinics. She worked at George Mason University Adjunct Faculty, Nursing for NP program. She is passionate about psychiatry and has experience caring for diverse patient populations across the lifespan with acute and chronic mental health conditions.
